“The first time, Christ came to slay sin in men. The second time He will come to slay men in sin.” ― A. W. Pink
We don’t know when Christ will return, but we do know that He will come like a “thief in the night” (Matthew 24:36-44, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3). Sadly, this means that many people will be unprepared for his return.
The Bible says that He will descend from heaven with power and glory. The trumpet of God will sound and the whole world will see and know that Jesus Christ is Lord. Indeed, there will be no questions about who He is when he returns (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 1:7).
Then the Lord will come and execute judgement on the whole world. He will convict the ungodly of all their sinful actions (Jude 1:14-16) and repay each one according to what he has done (Matthew 16:27).
Stay alert! Keep your eyes on Jesus and His finished work on the cross so that you won’t be distracted and weighed down by the cares of this world! Don’t be caught off guard when He returns! Pray for strength to escape those things that will take place, and to stand before the Lord (Luke 21:34-36).
One thing is for sure, the second coming will be unlike anything the world has ever seen. Encourage one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:18) and let them know that the King is coming!
